Step 1: Commit

Effective learning begins by preparing a detailed plan of action that commits leadership, human resources, and participants to a reinforcement-centered learning process. This is a critical first step towards achieving behavior change.


Step 2: Assess

Meaningful participant skill assessment provides powerful, insightful feedback prior to training and develops understanding of individual skill strengths/gaps and builds personal motivation to want to learn.


Step 3: Train / Learn

High impact training provides awareness of possibilities, new ideas and methods to apply, structured and safe opportunities to rehearse the use of new skill. Use online, classroom and/or blended learning approaches.


Step 4:
Coach / Reinforce

Continued structured reinforcement that focuses on ongoing learning, ongoing feedback, coaching, and accountability ingrains the training in ways that overcome old patterns of behavior. This is where the learning breakdown often occurs - no reinforcement back on the job.

Step 5:
Integrate / Results

Integrating methods learned in training into daily business practices and organizational policies ensures continued reinforcement of behavior change. Six to nine months later administer another skills questionnaire (same as the initial one) to check progress and course correct as necessary.
